When and why we process your Personal Data

We seek to only collect and process the personal data we need in order to provide you with our services. Below you will find more detailed information about how, when and why.

1. When you visit our website

When you visit our website, we automatically collect some personal data from your device. This information includes your IP address, date and time of the request, browser language and version, operating system version or producer, information about your device, user’s session fingerprints, as well as some data about how you interact with our website (e.g. which website you came from, pages visited, heatmaps and links clicked). We do this to keep our website secure and to understand who visits it and which pages they find interesting, so we can improve the site and provide relevant content. Some of this data is collected using cookies and similar technologies. You can find more detailed information in our Cookie Notice.

Our legal basis for processing the personal data collected by most types of cookies is your consent. You have the right to withdraw this consent at any time in your cookie preference center, but it will not affect any processing that has already taken place.

However, there are also some cookies which are necessary for the proper functioning of our website, and you cannot refuse them. The legal basis for this processing, and the processing of the data from the website logs, is legitimate interest.

2. When you contact us

There are several different ways you can get in touch with us, depending on the reason for your request. You can fill out one of the forms on our website — to contact our sales team, request a free demo or access to premium content, sign up for a webinar, or just send us an email for any other reason. The data you put into the form or in the body of the email will be sent to us automatically by email from the web server. It is useful for both Positive Technologies and you, if we are able to respond to enquiries quickly, so this processing is done on the basis of legitimate interest.

3. When you use our products and services

In connection with your use of our products or services, or when you request technical support, we process the personal data you provide when you sign up or engage our services, or contact us for any reason after that. The processing of this data is necessary for the performance of our contract with you. We also use some personal data for our internal auditing and accounting records. The legal basis for this processing is legitimate interest.

Additionally, although we do not aim to gain access to the personal data of our customers’ clients or employees, sometimes in the process of provision of our services we may unintentionally come across certain personal information. In most cases, we cannot predict which categories of data this may involve, and we do not control this data.

4. When we think you might be interested in our products or services

If you’ve been contacted by Positive Technologies to offer a conversation about our products or services, it’s because our research has indicated that you might be interested in what we have to offer. When we do pre-sales research, we look at various sources such as LinkedIn, industry-specific directories, etc. We want to offer our services to organisations which would benefit from having our support and be able to approach the most suitable person to discuss this with, so the legal basis for this processing of personal data is legitimate interest.

5. When you apply for a job

If you fill out a vacancy application on our website and send us your CV, or contact us by other means to inquire about joining Positive Technologies, we will review your information to determine whether your experience and qualifications meet our requirements. Then we will contact you to arrange an interview and tell you more about the position. If you change your mind during the process or your application is unsuccessful, we will keep your details on file for six months, in case another opportunity comes up, and then we’ll delete them. It’s in your interest to apply for a job with us, and in our interest to find team members to join us, so this processing of personal data is done on the basis of legitimate interest.

6. Social networks

If you request information or contact us on social media sites such as YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, or VKontakte, we will process your personal data in order to respond to your enquiry. For example, our sales or marketing department may contact you to provide more information about the product or service you expressed interest in or to offer a similar product, or an HR specialist could connect with you regarding a vacancy you enquired about. It is in the interest of both you and Positive Technologies if we respond to you, so this processing is done based on legitimate interest.
